Blocking IMEI: Block or Track Your Lost/Stolen Mobile Phone Using IMEI Number

Step 1: Before initiating the IMEI blacklisting procedure(Block Phone), a mandatory visit to the nearest police station is required to file a report. Additionally, you must obtain a copy of this report. Filing a report at the police station is essential; without it, you cannot block your lost or stolen phone. When filing the report, provide the phone’s Make, Model Number, and the mobile numbers associated with the lost or stolen phone’s SIM cards.

Step 2: After filing the report at the police station, you should visit the nearest office or outlet of your telecom service provider to acquire a duplicate SIM card for the lost number. This step is crucial, and you must ensure that you receive the same number that was associated with the stolen or lost phone. You will need to enter a One-time Password (OTP) sent to this number when submitting the request to block your IMEI. More details regarding this will be provided later in the article.

Note: Per TRAI’s regulations, SMS services will remain blocked for 24 hours on re-issued SIM cards (duplicate SIM cards) to safeguard consumers against SIM swap fraud. During this period, you will be unable to send or receive any SMS on your phone. SMS services will be automatically restored 24 hours after SIM activation.

Step 3: Request the blocking of the phone’s IMEI number – After obtaining the duplicate SIM card from your service provider, you will need to wait for 24 hours to complete the SMS activation process. There is no way to hurry in otp generating.
